    Abstract
The habit of washing hands according to health standards, especially for children, can actually be done with the involvement of parents. Not all parents can carry out their roles well so that bad habits of children in washing their hands continue to occur, thereby increasing the transmission of Covid-19 again. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of parents in the application of hand washing to children in the new normal era. The design of this research was descriptive. The population in this study was all elementary school children in grades III-VI at Mojorejo 2 Elementary School, Jetis District, Mojokerto Regency with a total of 71 children. The sampling technique used was total sampling so that the sample size was 71 children. The instrument used questionnaire. Data analysis used descriptive analysis. The results showed that most of the parents' roles in the application of hand washing were 42 people (59.2%), and those who had parents with less good roles were 29 people (40.8%). These results indicated that most parents have a good role in the application of hand washing. This is because washing hands is important in maintaining the health of yourself and your family in the new normal era, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet passed so parents must teach their children to take care of themselves well so they don't get infected with COVID-19. The good role of parents is also influenced by the age of the parents who are included in the category of being physically and mentally ready, neither too young nor too old, as well as the factor of secondary education which is easier to implement good parenting patterns.
