    Abstract
The elderly experience physical changes that affect the level of independence in carrying out daily activities and reduce the level of productivity of the elderly. This is still a serious health problem for the success of national health development because the decreasing level of independence of the elderly will determine the quality of human resources. This type of research was used correlational analytical methods with cross sectional design and Consecutive Sampling techniques. The variables studied were the level of independence of daily living activities with the quality of life of the elderly. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there was a relationship between the level of independence of daily living activities with the quality of life of elderly patients at the Geriatric Clinic, Bangil Hospital. The results of statistical tests using Spearman Rho showed that the value of the Correlation Coefficient = 0.571 and the value of Sig. (2 tailed) = 0.000. Independence in the elderly depends on the ability of their functional status in carrying out daily activities. Elderly with heavy dependence were unable to carry out their own activities due to declining physical conditions as a result of the aging process which has experienced a lot of decline. Elderly who do high physical activity will have a better quality of life. Physical activity carried out by the elderly regularly has a higher quality of life index value than those who do not do physical activity because the elderly who regularly do physical activity are rarely found to have health problems such as mobility and self-care.
