| dc.description.abstract | The problem of mental disorders around the world has become a very serious problem.
People with mental disorders often experience greater stigma and discrimination from the
surrounding community than individuals who suffer from medical illnesses, including: expelled
from school, dismissed from work, divorced by a partner, to being abandoned by their family, even
being in pasung. This study aimed to determine the image of society's stigma about clients with
mental disorders. The design of this research was descriptive. The population in this study was all
families aged 17-45 years in Karangmangu Hamlet, Karangmangu Village, Ngambon District,
Bojonegoro Regency as many as 451 families. The sampling technique of this research was cluster
random sampling. The sample in this study amounted to 68 people. The research instrument used
the CAMI (Community Attitude towards Mental Illness) questionnaire. Data analysis used
frequency distribution and percentage. The results suggested that most of the respondents who
were stigmatized about clients with mental disorders, asm many as 44 people (64.7%), while
respondents who were non-stigmatics were 24 people (35.3%). This suggested that the
community's stigma about clients with mental disorders in Karangmangu Village, Ngambon
District, Bojonegoro Regency was mostly stigmatic. This is because society still gives negative
views to clients with mental disorders, considers that mental disorders are a disgrace, cannot get
their rights as individuals because they are considered abnormal as humans in general. The public
is expected to seek as much information as possible about mental disorders from health workers
or from the internet with competent sources in the health sector in order to eliminate negative
views on clients with mental disorders. | en_US |
