HUBUNGAN LAMA PENGGUNAAN GADGET DENGAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR PADA ANAK USIA SEKOLAH
Abstract
Many students abuse gadgets. Now we see teenagers and even children using gadgets for
more than 3 hours. Therefore, learning motivation decreases because of the gadget. So they are
increasingly lazy to open books, look for textbooks, and rarely read books. This study aimed to
determine the relationship between the length of use of gadgets with learning motivation in school age children at Lumbang III Elementary School, Lumbang District, Pasuruan Regency. This
research design used correlation analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this
study were all students in grades 2-6 at Lumbang III Elementary School, Lumbang District,
Pasuruan Regency as many as 92 children. The sampling technique of this research was stratified
random sampling. The sample in this study as many as 75 people. The research instrument used
google form. Data analysis used Spearman Rho test. The results suggested that most of the
respondents used gadgets > 2 hours a day, as many as 56 children (74.7%), and most of the
respondents had high learning motivation, as many as 54 children (72%). The results of the
Spearman Rho test show that p-value = 0.852 > = 0.05 with a correlation coefficient of 0.022 so
that there was no relationship between the length of gadget use and learning motivation in school age children at Lumbang III Elementary School, Lumbang District, Pasuruan Regency. This means
that the longer the use of gadgets is not followed by the lower learning motivation of children.
This is because the use of gadgets can also motivate children to learn, from entertainment and
videos watched on the internet can get a lot of lessons so that children are more interested in
learning by using the internet as well because they find it easier and faster.
