The Effect of Picture Coloring Therapy on the Anxiety Level of Preschool Age Children Due to Hospitalization in the Asoka Room of Bangil Hospital Pasuruan Regency

Hospitalization is a process that requires the child to stay in the hospital, undergo therapy and treatment until his return home. During this process, children can experience traumatic events and cause stress that will affect the child's psychosocial development. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of playing coloring pictures therapy on the level of anxiety of preschool children due to hospitalization. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a one group pre-post test design approach. The sample in this study was 15 preschool-aged children who experienced hospitalization who were selected using a consecutive sampling technique. Anxiety levels were measured using the DASS 21 questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed by using the paired T-test. The results showed that there was a decrease in the level of anxiety before and after being given playing therapy coloring pictures. The results of the paired T-test showed that there was an effect of playing coloring pictures therapy on the anxiety level of preschool-aged children due to hospitalization in the Asoka Room of Bangil Hospital, Pasuruan Regency (p 0.000 <0.05). Play therapy aims to help children express feelings of frustration, anger, desires, fantasies and ideas, so that children can release tension and adapt to stressors that have an impact on decreasing anxiety levels during hospitalization.
