dc.description.abstract | The condition experienced by the elderly is closely related to the fulfillment of their basic needs. Meeting these needs can be approached through social support, which aims to provide a sense of peace and satisfaction. Elderly individuals often face weaknesses, limitations, and various incapacities in fulfilling their needs, which can negatively impact their self-confidence or self-efficacy. One way to enhance self-efficacy in the elderly is through the provision of adequate social support. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and self-efficacy in elderly residents at UPT Pesanggrahan PMKS Majapahit Mojokerto. The variables examined are social support and self-efficacy. The research employed a correlational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 48 respondents, with a sample of 42 selected through purposive sampling. Results showed that among the 18 respondents who received moderate social support, the majority—12 individuals (66.7%)—also had moderate self-efficacy. The Spearman rho test produced a p-value of 0.01, indicating statistical significance (p < 0.05), meaning the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This confirms a relationship between social support and self-efficacy among the elderly at the institution. The correlation coefficient was 0.390, indicating a weak but positive correlation: the higher the social support, the higher the self-efficacy. Social support plays a crucial role in enhancing elderly individuals’ self-efficacy, helping them cope with emotional and physical challenges, and strengthening their ability to manage difficult situations. | en_US |
