    Abstract
Post operative pain remains a major challenge despite adequate treatment concepts, including systemic and regional analgesia techniques. Proper pain management is still not available for most patients. Although the effectiveness of systemic and regional analgesia techniques is well-proven, few references show the effectiveness of non-pharmacological pain management. One of the non-pharmacological management is auditory distraction, namely jazz music therapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of jazz music therapy on pain levels in post SC patients at Bangil Pasuruan Hospital. Design of this study was Pre-experimental research design with a pretest-post test one group design approach. The population in this study was all post SC patients at the Bangil Pasuruan Hospital in August 2021 with a total of 67 people. The sampling technique of this study was consecutive sampling with a period of 1 week. The sample size that met the research criteria is 21 people. The study was conducted on August 9th to15th 2021. The research instrument used a music player and observation sheets based on the Bourbanis pain scale. The results of this study suggested that almost all respondents before jazz music therapy experienced moderate pain, as many as 18 people (85.7%), and most of the respondents after jazz music therapy experienced mild pain, as many as 13 people (61.9%). The results of the Wilcoxon test suggested that pvalue = 0.000 so there was an influence of jazz music therapy techniques on reducing pain intensity in post SC mothers at Bangil Pasuruan Hospital. Jazz music makes patients feel comfortable and relaxed. The relaxed condition of the body will stimulate the hormones enkephalin and endorphins which will inhibit the work of nociceptors as pain receptors so that pain is not stimulated to the brain.
