    Abstract
Status as a prisoner becomes a source of concern at the time before being released from the Correctional Institution. Psychological problems that generally arise in prisoners nearing their release period are anxiety. To help prisoners overcome anxiety problems, is to provide social support. This study aims to determine the relationship of social support with the anxiety level of prisoners before their release. This research design uses correlation analytic. The population in this study were 247 prisoners in the Class IIB Tuban Penitentiary. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, the sample obtained was 36 respondents. The instrument used was a social support questionnaire by (Kiki rizki amelia, 2010) and an anxiety questionnaire using the HARS scale quoted from (Nursalam 2013). Data analysis used the Spearman Rho test. The results of this study indicate that there is a unidirectional relationship between social support and the level of anxiety marked by a negative sign on the correlation results . Based on the analysis of the Spearman Rho statistical test results, the p-value (0.000) (0.05), which means that there is a significant negative relationship between social support and the anxiety level of prisoners before being released at the Class IIB Tuban Correctional Institution. To help prisoners overcome anxiety problems, is to provide high social support. Social support can affect individual health and adaptive adjustment ability to anxiety and pain experienced.
