    Abstract
One of the causes of the lack of exclusive breastfeeding is mastitis in breastfeeding mothers. Mastitis is an event characterized by pain in the breast caused by breast inflammation that can be accompanied by infection or noninfection. Mastitis most often occurs in the second and third week after birth. Poor breastfeeding techniques that result in inefficient removal of breast milk are important causes of mastitis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between breastfeeding techniques and the risk of mastitis in breastfeeding mother based on the results of empirical studies. This research uses the type of library research. Literature search was carried out through the Pubmed, and Google Scholar databases with the keywords "breastfeeding technique and mastitis", "risk factor of mastitis", "the relationship of breastfeeding techniques with mastitis" used 10 journals in this study. The results of the analysis in 6 international journals and 4 national journals show that breastfeeding techniques can affect the risk of mastitis in breastfeeding mothers. This shows there is a match between the theory with the fact that breastfeeding techniques greatly affect the occurrence of mastitis. The better the technique of breastfeeding the mother, the smaller the risk of mastitis in breastfeeding mothers, conversely the worse the technique of breastfeeding, the higher the risk of mastitis in breastfeeding mothers.
