Abstract
Stress is one that often occurs for inmates who are serving sentences in prison. Stress in prisoners can occur due to loss of self-confidence, feeling depressed and lack of social support. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social support with the stress level of prisoners in the Class IIB Mojokerto Correctional Institution. This research design using cross sectional. The population of all prisoners in the Class IIB Mojokerto Correctional Institution is 346 prisoners, the sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The sample in the study was 52 people. The research instrument used the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) questionnaire, Rosenberg's The Self-esteem Scale and the Social Support Index (SSI). The data analysis method for the variable Self-Esteem and Stress Level uses the Phi And Cramer's Contingency Coefficient and the Social Support Variable using the Spearman Rho Correlation analysis method. The results of the Phi and Cramer's Contingency coefficient correlation statistical test obtained p = 0,000 <α, which means that H0 is rejected so that there is a relationship between self-esteem and the stress level of prisoners in the Class IIB Mojokerto Correctional Institution and the Spearman Rho correlation test results obtained a p value of (0,000) <α = 0.05 then H0 is rejected, which means that there is a relationship between social support and the stress level of prisoners in the Class II B Prison in Mojokerto. Penitentiaries continue to improve guidance and activities for inmates so that they can increase self-esteem and establish social relationships for prisoners so that mental disorders such as stress do not occur.
