Abstract
The leadership style applied by the head of the room can be an assessment by the
nurse and can even affect the performance of a nurse. Leadership is a process of
influencing and directing others so that they have the motivation to achieve the
goals to be achieved in certain situations, so that the role of leadership in an
organization is very important and very decisive in achieving the goals previously
set. This study aims to determine the relationship between the leadership style of
the head of the room with the work motivation of nurses in the nursing room at
Anwar Medika General Hospital. The research design used was correlation analytic
with cross sectional sampling with total sampling, using the Spearman rho
statistical test which was conducted on 12-17 February 2020 with 75 respondents.
The research instruments were demographic data questionnaire, transformational
leadership style questionnaire and David McClelland work motivation
questionnaire. The results showed the majority of the leadership style used by the
head of the room, namely using a democratic leadership style with a percentage of
86.7% (65 people) and high work motivation of 86.7% (65 people). From the
research results, the value of p-value = 0.003 (α <0.05) so that ho is rejected and h1
is accepted, which means that there is a relationship between leadership style and
work motivation of nurses in the inpatient room of Anwar Medika Hospital,
Sidoarjo, the closeness of the relationship is sufficient, which is indicated by the
correlation coefficient value. amounted to 0.341. the direction of positive
correlation means that the better the leadership style used by the head of the room,
the higher the level of work motivation of the nurses at Anwar Medika General
Hospital, Sidoarjo.
