PENGARUH PERAWATAN KAKI TERHADAP SENSISTIVITAS KAKI PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELLITUS TIPE 2 DI KELURAHAN KEDUNDUNG KOTA MOJOKERTO
Abstract
Increased blood sugar levels make people with diabetes mellitus experience
neurological disorders due to decreased blood circulation and oxygenation to the
foot area which causes decreased foot sensitivity, therefore, to prevent diabetes
ulcers, it is necessary to do good foot care. This study aims to determine the effect
of foot care on foot sensitivity in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study
design uses quasy experimental research design with a pretest-post test one group
design approach. The population in this study were all people with Type 2 diabetes
Mellitus in Kedundung Village, Magersari District, Mojokerto City with a total of
42 people. Sampling using purposive sampling to get 15 respondents. The
instrument used was a monofilament set then recorded in an observation sheet. Data
analysis uses the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that an increase
in the number of respondents who experienced a low risk of neuropathy from 2
respondents (13.3%) to 9 respondents (60%), and a decrease in the number of
respondents who had a high risk of neuropathy from 13 people (86.7%) to 6 people
(40%). Wilcoxon test analysis results obtained pvalue of 0.008 less than α (0.05) so
that H1 was accepted which means there is an influence of foot care on foot
sensitivity in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Kedundung Village, Mojokerto
City. One of the foot treatments is done by cleaning the feet soaked with warm
water. Warm water is a cutaneous stimulation that can increase blood vessel dilation
to smooth blood flow to nourish the peripheral nerves so that the nerves work better
and increase leg sensitivity.
