The sampling technique in this reserch used Non Probability with Total Sampling techniques. The independent variable is self management and the dependent variable is quality of life. Data were collected using a questionnaire, self-management measuring instrument using a diabetes self management questionnaire (DSMQ), and quality-of-life measurement instrument using WHOQOL-BREEF quality of life. The results showed that the majority (98.1%), 53 of 54 respondents who had sufficient self management would have an adequate quality of life, and most (100%) ie 2 of 2 respondents who had good self management would have a quality of life the good one. The results of the analysis using crosstab is that if someone has good self management it will have a good quality of life too. The absence of good self management causes a decrease in the quality of life of respondents disturbed and cannot control it. Improved self management can be done through the development of a structured educational program, increasing the competence of nurses in providing nursing care to DM patients related to good self management activities.
