dc.description.abstractAssociated Pneumonia (VAP) ventilator occurs more than 48 hours after the patient is intubated and has mechanical ventilation (ventilator) installed. The purpose of this study was to look at the performance of nurses in controlling VAP (Ventilator Associated Pneumonia) during the installation of mechanical ventilation (ventilator) in patients in the ICU. This research is descriptive. The research sample uses a total sampling technique that is all nurses working in the ICU. The overall results of the nurse's performance in controlling VAP (Ventilator Associated Pneumonia) in the good category are 16 respondents (100%). The age of the majority of respondents is at the age of 20-25 years by 12 people (68.75%) and the minority is the age of 25-30 years by 4 people (31.25%). The majority of the sex of respondents were 11 women (75%), the minority were 5 men (25%). The majority of respondents' working time is 1-3 years (56.25%), the minority is> 3 years (18.75%). The education of the majority of respondents was DIII Nursing by 11 people (68.75%), the minority was S1 Nursing by 5 people (31.25%). ICU training for the majority of respondents had never had ICU training for 13 people (81.75), a minority were for ICU training for 3 people (18.75%). Overall, the performance of nurses in controlling VAP (Ventilator Associated Pneumonia) is categorized as good as 12 people (75%), which is not as good as 4 people (25%). It is recommended to the hospital to give permission for nurses to continue to a higher level so that nurses' performance can control the occurrence of VAP. Can also create seminars and workshops on controlling VAP. Provide opportunities for nurses to attend ICU training outside the hospital, supported by facilities and funds.en_US
