dc.description.abstract | The aging process is a natural process accompanied by a decrease in
physical, psychological and social conditions. One of the physiological changes is
the cardiovascular system. This occurs when the heart valve thickens and becomes
stiff, decreases the ability of cardiac contractility, reduced elasticity of blood
vessels and increased vascular resistance so that the elderly are more prone to
hypertension. Most elderly people are still dependent on antihypertensive drugs,
even though there are other therapies that can be done, nemely tai chi exercises.
This study aims to analyze the effect of Tai Chi exercises on reducing blood
pressure in the eldely with hypertension at nursing home mojopahit mojokerto.
This research design use Pre-experimental with one group pre-test pos-test design
approach. 12 respondent as samples with purposive sampling technique. The
research instrument uses a manual spygnomanometer to measure blood pressure.
Paired T Test results obtained with confidence intervals > 1 indicate that the
value is significant value of p value 0.000 < (α) 0.05 which means H0 was
rejected, meaning that there was an effect of tai chi on reducing blood pressure in
the elderly with hypertension in the nursing home mojopahit mojokerto. Tai chi
exercise can reduce blood pressure in hypertensive elderly, so the elderly can do
routine tai chi exercises and can be used by health workers as a modality therapy
in the elderly who experience hypertension. For Further researchers can use a
control group or comparison group design by using a time series design for more
valid results. | en_US |
