    Abstract
Psychological conditions in post-stroke patients that were negative could be caused by changes in ADL abilities. Situations that were considered unpleasant, such as daily activities that require assistance, could lead to maladaptive coping. This study aimed to determine the relationship between ADL ability and coping in stroke patients in the Kedundung Public Health Center, Mojokerto City. This research design used correlation analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this study was all patients with stroke in the Work Area of the Kedundung Public Health Center, Mojokerto City, as many as 65 people. The sampling technique of this research was total sampling. The sample in this study as many as 65 people. The research instrument used the Barthel index checklist and the Jelowiec Coping Scale. Data analysis used crosstab. The results suggested that almost all respondents experienced mild dependence, as many as 50 people (76.9%), and almost all respondents had adaptive coping, as many as 50 people (76.9%). that respondents who experience mild dependence have adaptive coping as many as 41 people (63%), and respondents who experience moderate dependence and have maladaptive coping as many as 6 people (9.2%). The results of crosstab analysis suggested that there there was a relationship between ADL ability and coping with stroke patients in the Kedundung Public Health Center, Mojokerto City where the better the ADL ability, the more adaptive the coping of stroke patients, and conversely the worse the ADL ability of stroke patients, the more maladaptive coping. This is because respondents who are able to do ADL independently will not be a burden to the family so that respondents do not experience psychological pressure.
