Abstract
Nomophobia is a phobia caused by being away from smartphones. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and nomophobia in students. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a relationship if the individual's self-control is low with the incidence of nomophobia among grade VIII students. The population in this study were all students of class VIII at MtsN 3 Pasuruan as many as 150 people. This sample was taken using a purpsosive sampling technique so that 148 respondents were obtained who met the inclusion criteria. Based on the results of the analysis of the Spearman Rho test, which is indicated by the value of value (0.000) < (0.05), with a very close relationship as indicated by the correlation coefficient value of - 610. So it can be concluded that the hypothesis in this study can be accepted. This means that the direction of the relationship between the two variables is a positive correlation, meaning that the negative the self-control possessed by the respondent, the lower the incidence of nomophobia among students of MtsN 3 Pasuruan, so it is expected that class VIII students at MtsN 3 Pasuruan can increase self-control to avoid nomophobia by how to identify and avoid temptations that we feel are negative things and can only cause harm, then limit ourselves to using smartphones so we don't experience nomophobia which we know has a very significant negative impact.
