Life in a prison that is shackled and confined to freedom is a physical,
psychological, and social pressure. Prisoners in prisons cannot interact with
the outside world. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship
between the length of the sentence and the level of stress on inmates at
the Class IIB Penitentiary in Mojokerto City. The design of this study is a
cross sectional approach. The population is 334 prisoners in Lapas IIB,
Mojokerto City. Take 51 inmates in a random / random way. The sampling
technique used is random sampling. The instrument is a questionnaire to
determine the relationship with the results of the Spearman Rho
Correlation test to get 50% results with the most normal stress levels with a
length of sentence of more than 3 years. The results of the test using SPSS
statistical test Spearman Rho correlation obtained p = 0.022 <α (0.05)
which means that H0 is accepted so that there is a long relationship
between the sentence and the level of stress of prisoners at the Class II B
Penitentiary in Mojokerto. The longer the penalty period, the level of stress
on prisoners is within normal limits because they are increasingly able to
adapt and can accept the punishment they are undergoing. Seen in a man
almost never pay attention to any problems or do not think too seriously
about the problem that happen, so the level of stress on them almost
entirely do not experience severe stress.
