Abstract
Diabetes mellitus can cause various complications, namely hypoglycemia hyperglycemia,
measuring the ankle brachial index (ABI), which is measuring the ratio of systolic pressure in the
arm to systolic pressure in the lower leg. This study aims to determine the effect of diabetic foot
exercise on the ankle brachial index in patients with diabetes mellitus. . The design of this study
used a quasi-experimental pre-post test one group design. The research population is all patients
with diabetes mellitus as many as 35 respondents, so that a sample of 20 respondents was obtained
using purposive sampling technique for 2 weeks. Data were collected by observation method. The
results of the study using the Wilcoxon sign rank test pre-test, there were 15 (75%) respondents
with abnormal criteria to 3 (15%) at the post-test, and 5 (25%) respondents at the pre-test with
normal criteria being 17 (85%) at the time of the post test. The conclusion in this study is that
there is an influence on the value of the Ankle Brachial Index before and after being given diabetic
foot exercises, diabetic foot exercises that have been carried out regularly and regularly by
respondents have an impact on the value of the ankle brachial index that occurs in each individual
because of the movements in gymnastics. Diabetic feet are useful for improving blood circulation
in the legs and preventing complications such as PAP (Peripheral Arterial Perfusion Disease).
