Abstract
Family support greatly affects the anxiety level of patients with chronic diseases, one of
which is patients with chronic kidney failure while undergoing hemodialysis. The
family support includes emotional support, instrumental support, reward support, and
informational support. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between
family support and anxiety levels in patients with chronic kidney failure while
undergoing hemodialysis at Bangil Hospital. Correlative descriptive research design
with a cross sectional approach. The sample of this study was 46 respondents using
consekutive sampling. Data were taken using the FSS and HARS questionnaires and
continued with the Spearman's Rho Test Statistical Test with the help of SPSS Version
22. The results of this study showed that chronic kidney failure patients who received
full support experienced moderate anxiety with a p-value of 0.000 < (0.05) with a
correlation coefficient value of .527** or moderate correlation strength. The support
given by the family to the patient in this study did not rule out the patient experiencing
anxiety about the conditions experienced. Family support that is able to manage the
coping of sick family members provides many benefits, namely providing a positive
mindset for patients to continue to be confident and enthusiastic about healing their
current condition.
