    Abstract
Volunteers have a very important role both when a disaster occurs and when a disaster does not occur. To become a volunteer requires strong motivation because volunteers are required to have insight and concern to work voluntarily and with a big heart in disaster management efforts. Volunteers always interact with people who need help, but in their interactions it is not uncommon for volunteers to experience verbal violence. This research aims to identify the influence of verbal violence on volunteers' motivation to help disaster victims. This research was a correlational descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. The population is members of the KSR PMI Surabaya City. Using random techniques, the research sample was 85 people. Data collection used questionnaires and interviews. Data collection was carried out in the period June – July 2023. The research results showed that the majority of respondents had very strong motivation to become volunteers (43.5%) while based on their experience of verbal violence, 77.6% of respondents said they rarely experienced verbal violence. From the statistical results of the Spearman test, it shows a significance of p < 0.001 and a correlation coefficient of 0.503. The implication of this research can be concluded that appreciation, especially verbally, for the results of a volunteer's hard work will have implications for increasing selfconfidence and motivation to become a volunteer and this can also be linked to improving the services provided so that community satisfaction with the existence of volunteers will increase.
