    Abstract
Nowadays there are many school-age children who are less in maintaining their hygiene to facilitate the occurrence of diseases such as worms or diarrhea. This situation occurs because the child has not been able to do personal hygiene independently or still assisted by parents. The purpose of the research was to find out the relationship of parenting pattern with the independence of personal hygiene of preschool children. The research design was correlational analytic with crossectional approach. The research variables were parenting as an independent variable and personal hygiene independence as a dependent variable. The population is all parents who have children of preschool age in kindergarten Dharma Wanita Jatirejo Mojokerto. Samples were taken with total sampling technique of 45 respondents. Questionnaire collected data and tested by chi-square test. The results showed that 16 respondents who applied democratic parenting mostly self-supporting personal hygiene of children in self-supporting category as many as 9 respondents (20%). It was from 12 respondents applying authoritarian parenting style there are no independent children and from parents who apply partially permissive parenting large number of independent children as many as 5 respondents (11.1%). Chi-square test results obtained values ρ = 0, 006 and α = 0.05 so that ρ <α then there is a relationship parenting to the independence of personal hygiene child. This suggests that the more appropriately adopted parenting patterns will increase the independence of personal hygiene of preschoolers. Parenting patterns applied by parents in educating children will have an impact on the personality and autonomy of children. Freeing the child does make it easier for children to do something useful for their children someday, but if without the control of parents will make the child becomes difficult to regulate.
