HUBUNGAN LAMA MENJALANI MASA HUKUMAN DENGAN HARGA DIRI NARAPIDANA DI LEMBAGA PEMASYARAKATAN KELAS IIB MOJOKERTO
Abstract
When serving time, prisoners get a bad stigma from the community and also have lost everything such as work, time with family, relationships with the community before being in prison and also his ideals have been destroyed, this can have an impact on psychological prisoners in the form of decreased self-esteem . The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the length of serving time in prison and the dignity of prisoners in Class II B Penitentiary, Mojokerto. Desian research using cross sectional. The population of all prisoners in the Mojokerto IIB Class Correctional Institution is 356 inmates, the sampling technique using purposive sampling. The sample in this study were criminal convicts of violence in the Class IIB Penitentiary in Mojokerto City in February 2020 as many as 52 people. The research instrument used the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES) questionnaire to test the level of self-esteem and interviews to find out the length of serving time. The method of data analysis uses the Spearman Rho Correlation. The test results using SPSS 16.0 Spearman Rho correlation statistical test obtained p = 0.697> α (0.05), which means there is no long-standing relationship of serving a sentence with prisoners' self-esteem. Prisoners who are increasingly serving their sentences will decrease their self-esteem but will decrease their prisoners' self-esteem not only influenced by their length of serving time, there are still many factors such as environmental changes, treatment in prison, community stigma, loss of social freedom, and lack of support from family and social.
