Pengaruh stimulasi oral terhadap refleks hisap pada bayi berat badan lahir rendah diruang perinatologi RSUD Bangil

Abstract

In using the oral stimulation method, namely through touch and stimulation, especially the muscle tissue around the mouth, it can increase blood circulation, improve muscle function, stimulate the suction reflex in low birth weight babies, stimulate good nerves so that it stimulates hunger. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of oral stimulation on the suction reflex in low birth weight infants in the Perinatology ward of Bangil Hospital. The research design used a pre-experimental type of research with one group Pre-Test – Post-Test Design. The population in this study were all low birth weight infants in the Perinatology room at Bangil Hospital. The sample in this study was the entire population of low birth weight babies in the Perinatology room of Bangil Hospital because there were only 14 babies. The independent variable in this study was oral stimulation, while the dependent variable in this study was the suction reflex. The instrument in this study used a standard observation sheet for oral stimulation work procedures and a suction reflex sheet. The results of the study using statistical using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance of p <0.05 found p = 0,004 , so it can be concluded that there is an effect of oral stimulation on the suction reflex in low birth weight (LBW) infants in the perinatology room of Bangil Hospital.Nurses need to do oral stimulation to increase the suction reflex in Low Birth Weight Infant so that the duration of treatment is shorter, the baby's recovery is faster and the maintenance costs are reduced.
