dc.description.abstract Background: Midwifery education plays a vital role in developing the midwives. The education hasso far created best qualified midwife graduates. The demand for enhanced education of midwivesis convinced. Methods: From November 2013 until July 2014, a qualitative research utilizing in-depthinterviews and focus group deliberations were conducted. In Indonesia, the compilation of dataincluded 26 interviewers from 12 provinces. 367 participants were chosen for In-depth interviewsconcerning the stakeholders, midwives, and consumers of midwife service. The strategies for indepth interviews involved the determination of midwife facilities, midwife competences, andexpectancies towards midwifery education. Data validation and members check is conducted tocorroborate the precision of the data in this research. Results: The assessment enclosed existing midwife facilities and midwife competences. Theexpectancies emphasize the input-process-output in midwifery concepts. This also included thehuman resources, midwifery education curriculum, assortment structure of student intakefacilities, and least average of midwifery education. The procedure should envelop teaching andpracticum, learning development, assistance, investigation and evaluation. The incorporation oinput and procedure must create midwifery capabilities, soft skills, and improved midwifeservices. Conclusion: The significance of the character of education in produce professional midwifegraduates. Therefore, improvements quality of educational is needed to meet a demand of jobmarket needs. en_US
