Abstract

The main causeed of the lack of mother's initial cared about how to give first aid correctly caused diarrhea death in children under five, so that good cared or treatment of diarrhea can be done at home which helps mothers how to take care properly. The purpose of this researched was to identify the initial care of toddlers for diarrhea at home, in Sumberjati Village. The researched method used is descriptive. The entire population of all mothers with toddlers who have had diarrhea who had been treated at the Gayaman health center were 157 people. The sampling technique used is total sampling so that the sample is 157 respondents. The instrument in this researched was a questionnaire. Based on the results of the study found the majority of respondents had early treatment of diarrhea toddlers at home with the right category with the number of 113 respondents (72.0%), and a small proportion with the number of44 respondents (28.0%) had the level of care in the inappropriate category. This study shows that the majority of the community has been able to provide appropriate initial treatment of diarrhea at home because respondents have received information about initial treatment of diarrhea at home. Mothers who have received information on early care for toddlers for diarrhea at home and have a high level of education will be more likely to be able to provide early toddler care for diarrhea at home appropriately. Education and whether the mother has received information or not will affect the accuracy of the mother in providing initial care to btoddlers.
