Abstract
Hypertension is an increase in blood pressure that exceeds normal blood pressure, a systolic pressure of more than or equal to 140 mmHg and a diastolic pressure of more than or equal to 90 mmHg. This disease is a major risk factor for heart attack, stroke, and heart failure. It is very important to take prevention and treatment immediately to avoid the increase in hypertension in Indonesia. Treatment of hypertension can be done with pharmacological, non- pharmacological and complementary treatments. Hypertension must be treated immediately, one of which is by complementary medicine, namely cupping. Cupping is a method of treating disease by removing dirty blood from the body through the skin surface. This study aims to determine the effect of cupping therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The design of this research is Pre Experiment Design with the design used is One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The number of samples used were 22 respondents who were carried out in the working area of the Puri Health Center, Mojokerto Regency by performing 1 cupping intervention. The results of statistical tests found that there was a change in blood pressure, namely a decrease after being given cupping therapy, namely a decrease in blood pressure as many as 20 respondents (90.9%). Statistical test using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The blood pressure shows the p value (0.001) < (0.05) so that H0 is rejected, which means that it shows that there is a significant effect of cupping therapy on changes in blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
